Who is Maa Baglamukhi?
Maa Baglamukhi — also called Pitambara Devi — is one of the ten Mahavidyas, the great wisdom goddesses of the tantric tradition. Her particular power is stambhan: the ability to still and to silence. The vidhi — what actually happens during the havan
A Baglamukhi Havan is not a single act but a sequence, and each part has a purpose. Knowing the order helps you follow along when you watch the live Sankalp or the recording afterwards.
- Sankalp — the acharya declares your full name, gotra, place and the specific purpose of the ritual. This is the step that makes the puja yours rather than a general one, and it is the part you join on video.
- Kalash sthapana and Ganesh pujan — the sacred pot is installed and Lord Ganesh is invoked first, as in every Vedic ritual, to clear obstacles from the ritual itself.
- Baglamukhi avahan — the Goddess is invoked in her yellow form, with turmeric, yellow flowers, yellow cloth and haldi-coloured offerings.
- Mantra japa — the Baglamukhi beej mantra is chanted for a fixed count. The count rises with the package: a short japa for the Basic havan, a full purascharana across several days for the Anushthan.
- Havan and ahuti — offerings are made into the sacred fire with each mantra. In a Mirchi Havan, red chillies are the primary offering.
- Purnahuti and aarti — the final offering closes the ritual, followed by aarti and the distribution of prasad.

- Tuesday — traditionally the strongest weekday for Baglamukhi, linked to Mangal and to matters of conflict and courage.
- Ashtami and Chaturdashi tithis — long favoured for Mahavidya sadhana.
- Baglamukhi Jayanti — Vaishakha Shukla Ashtami, the single most auspicious day of the year for this Goddess. Slots fill early, so book ahead.
