What is Kaal Sarp Dosh, and what are its signs?
Rahu and Ketu always sit opposite each other in a kundli. When Surya, Chandra, Mangal, Budh, Guru, Shukra and Shani all fall on one side of that axis, astrologers call it Kaal Sarp yog — the planets “held” by the serpent of time. If even one planet sits outside, it is often called partial (ansh) Kaal Sarp.

Kaal Sarp Dosh is a Rahu–Ketu dosh, and the Navgrah Shani Mandir at Triveni Ghat is one of Ujjain’s main temples for graha shanti, with shrines for all nine grahas — Rahu and Ketu included. Its place on the Shipra makes the snan, tarpan and immersion steps of the vidhi straightforward.
